Privacy policy

Kael Skin LLC operates kaelskin.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have written it in plain language because a privacy policy nobody can read is not really a disclosure.

Right now Kael Skin is pre-launch. The only thing this website does is collect email addresses from people who want to know when our first product is available. We are not selling anything yet, we do not process payments, and we do not run advertising or analytics trackers on this site.

For privacy questions, email us at the address above. We are a small company and that address reaches a person, not a queue.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

If you join our launch list, we collect the email address you type into the form. That is the only field on the form, and it is the only personal information we ask you for.

Information collected automatically

Our website runs on Shopify. Like nearly all commerce platforms, Shopify automatically records basic technical information when you visit, which can include your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you viewed, and the time of your visit. Shopify also sets cookies necessary to operate the storefront and protect it from abuse. We use this information only to keep the site running and secure.

What we do not collect

  • We do not collect payment information. There is nothing to buy on this site yet.
  • We do not collect your name, address, phone number, or date of birth.
  • We do not run advertising pixels or third-party marketing trackers on this site.
  • We do not buy personal information about you from data brokers.

3. Why we use it

  • Your email address: to tell you when Kael Baseline launches, to give you early access, and to send the discount we promised when you signed up. Nothing else.
  • Technical and cookie data: to operate and secure the website, diagnose problems, and prevent spam and abuse of our signup form.

If you are in a region where a legal basis must be stated, we rely on your consent for the launch emails, which you can withdraw at any time, and on our legitimate interest in operating a secure website for the technical data.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not rent, trade, or otherwise make our list available to anyone else.

We do rely on service providers to run the business, and they process data on our behalf:

  • Shopify: hosts our website and stores our customer and subscriber records. Shopify's own privacy terms apply to the data they process.
  • Klayvio: sends our launch emails. 

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, for example in response to a valid subpoena or court order, or if we need to protect our rights or someone's safety. If Kael Skin LLC is ever sold or merged, your information could transfer to the new owner, and this policy would continue to apply until you are told otherwise.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you ask us to remove it, or until the launch list is no longer active. If you unsubscribe, we remove your address from the mailing list. We may keep a minimal record of the unsubscribe itself so we do not accidentally email you again.

Technical logs are retained by our platform on its own schedule, which is typically short.

6. Your choices and rights

You have the right to ask us to do any of the following, at no cost to you:

  • See your data. Ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct it. Ask us to fix anything inaccurate.
  • Delete it. Ask us to remove your information entirely.
  • Stop emails. Unsubscribe using the link in any email, or just reply and ask.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so there is nothing to opt out of. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and provide a mechanism first.

To exercise any of these, email support@kaelskin.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

The short version: email us and ask to be removed, and you will be removed. You do not need to cite a statute or fill out a form.

If you are in California

The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, gives California residents the rights described above, plus the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. The category of personal information we collect is identifiers, specifically an email address and IP address. We collect it for the business purposes described in section 3. We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months, and we do not collect sensitive personal information.

If you are outside the United States

Kael Skin LLC operates in the United States, and any information you give us is stored and processed there. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with data protection laws, you may have additional rights including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Email us and we will honor those requests.

7. Cookies and tracking

This site does not set advertising or marketing cookies. Our platform sets cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the storefront and protect the signup form from abuse.

If we add analytics or advertising tools in the future, we will update this policy before turning them on, and we will provide a consent mechanism where the law requires one.

8. Children

This website and our products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We limit what we collect, which is the most effective protection we can offer. Data in transit to this site is encrypted, and access to the subscriber list is restricted to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, and we will not pretend otherwise.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, for example if we start collecting something new or working with a new category of provider, we will email the launch list before it takes effect.
